Dalton ‘Cage’ Booker is the number one goalie for the San Diego Scorpions. Most people describe him as willful and stubborn—sometimes even difficult to control. More often than not, words fly out of his mouth without the benefit of passing through his brain first. And women love him.
Karen LaGrange, little sister of the former enforcer for the Scorpions, lives in Canada, where she works with special needs children. After losing her job to downsizing, she makes an extended visit to San Diego, forming a friendship with the errant goalie.
Through frequent reminders that they are friends without benefits, Karen struggles to keep their relationship platonic, but the more she shuts him down, the more he wants her.
Can Cage convince Karen to slip under the sheets with him, or is he destined to be firmly entrapped in the friend zone?
How do you survive the Friend
Zone?
Dalton “Cage” Booker is your
typical hot head, hot shot, sexy NHL hockey player who enjoys a different woman
in his bed. That is, until he see the “devil in the blue dress” at a
party. When he shares his appreciation
of her ‘curvy” allure to his teammates, his night ends with an almost broken
nose. Of all the women, its Jody’s baby
sister. Jody knows exactly what kind of
guy Cage is and he does not want him near his baby sister.
Cage wants Karen and he will have
her sooner or later. He sees his next conquest but his desires are crashed and
burned when she lands him in the frustrating FRIEND ZONE. He tries at every possible opportunity to
remind her, they should be friends with benefits. In his quest, he finds
himself falling in love and becoming a true friend. All he wants if for Karen
to see him as more than a friend and to prove to her she is not his next “puck
bunny”.
This book was a fun, sexy
read. Cage was cocky and confident, however
you couldn’t help but root for the guy. He is just lonely and uses his temper
as a coping mechanism to keep his teammates at a distance. When in actually he
is a loner, dog lover, faithful son and best friend to his little brother.
The writing was excellent when portraying
the dislike between Karen’s brother Jody and Cage. Jody and Cage’s back and forth was a little
too platonic at times, however I liked it when Jody was able to steal a kiss or
squeeze and irritate her brother at the same time. However, so much flirting
and denial could really blow up in your face and it takes a toll on the person
you least expects.
I enjoyed the witty banter, the
sense of family between the players and Cage’s desire to wait for Karen as long
as it takes. He’s a former manwhore transferred into a lover who sees something
is even more important than hockey.
In closing, I give Cage’s Misconduct a 4 Kink
review.

things...and hockey. Give me a hockey game and I'm set! During intermission, I
read. Reading has always been a love of mine since I was a little girl. The
books have gotten a bit spicier though. I also like moonlit walks on the beach,
strawberries and champagne (ok, dirty martinis actually), and a strong man to
hold me...etc., etc., etc. ;)
I live in Hammonton, NJ with my husband of over 18 years.
It's not always easy but it's always worth it.
